Calrose vs Vietnamese Sushi Rice (Calrose from Vietnam)
There are different types of Medium Grain Rice, or Calrose rice in the market. The Vietnamese sushi rice or the “Vietnamese Calrose” is a bit smaller in size than the “Portuguese Calrose” or the “Californian Calrose” as they are different types of rice.
The one produced in Portugal and in Calfornia goes through double sortexed process to keep grains as selected as possible, etc. The ones produced in Vietnam are not as sortexed but still keep the small rate of 3% broken grains. The result is a cheaper rice but still good quality and similar function and taste for cooking dishes.
